#41: Datchet Police letter to Susan Kelly, August 9, 2007

Attleboro, MA 02703

Dear Ms. Kelly:

This letter is a followup to the telephone conversation we had on July 30 regarding your aunt Norma Hayward.

On January 2 of this year we received an initial call from your aunt regarding a potential break-in at one of her neighbor’s homes at Oak Circle. No evidence of any intruders were found at that time. Since that first incident, the amount of calls from your aunt to the station regarding intruders on her property has grown to well over 30.

The most current call was received by our dispatch two days ago. Ms. Hayward contacted the station in a panic convinced that there was a mob of people in colonial dress surrounding the tree in the middle of the cul-de-sac.

I know this may be difficult to hear, but you may want to have a conversation with your mother about your aunt’s well-being and long-term care. I myself have had a family member who had similar episodes. It may be time for your aunt to get the attention and care that she needs.

If you have any questions or would like to talk further, please call me in the office. I’d be happy to speak with you at any time.

Sincerely,

William Kendell
Chief of Police
Town of Datchet
