#30: Alyssia Amaral Diary Entry, June 1, 2007

June 1, 2007

Dear Diary,

I woke up under the oak tree last night. I don’t know how I got there but it was dark and cold and wet and I was laying on the ground. The moon was so bright. I think it was pretty late because all the lights were out.

All the other kids were there too. Danielle, Maddy, Michael. Even little Jai was there.

Nobody knew how they got there. We went to bed like normal but we woke up outside. Michael saw that the front doors to our houses were opened. Did we walk out ourselves?

Danielle and Maddy were scared and crying. But Jai seemed happy playing with some sticks on the ground.

Suddenly we heard a noise like a deep sigh from behind the big tree. A shadow came around towards us! It was big and huge and had long pointy antlers! It had green, shiny eyes!

I tried to scream but no noise came out! When I tried to run, I couldn’t move! It just kept getting closer to us. When It got to Jai, it picked him up but Jai didn’t seem scared! He just giggled and reached for the thing’s horns.

The shadow turned towards us. It stared at me and everything started glowing green. It got brighter and brighter. It hurt my eyes and I wanted to look away but I couldn’t! I wanted to scream but I couldn’t!

Then everything went dark.

When I opened my eyes I was back in bed. It was the morning and the sun was out. I thought I had a nightmare but Danielle ran into my room and said she saw the same thing.

I don’t know what’s going on. If we tell mom or dad they’ll think we’re crazy or lying!

It looked like the deer man from my dreams.
