#13: Danielle Amaral’s writing assignment, March 20, 2006
THE DEER-MAN
Midnight brings the dream of a man
who comes from the woods.
He visits me when the moon is full,
so tall that he can block out the light with his huge body and long arms and legs.
He has horns,
sharp deer horns that slowly grow as big as thick oak tree branches.
He wants me to join him and go back to the forest.
He beckons to me with a smile
But his cold, mean eyes reveal his sinister intentions.
I am scared. Don’t let me go.
